This is the first in the next quartet of Bargrooves releases, this time brought together under the theme of influences. These releases showcase those DJ's and producers who have had a real influence on the Bargrooves sound, and also those who were themselves an influence on the creation of the Bargrooves series. First up on guest DJ duties is Jay Hannan, formerly one half of legendary House duo Lazydog. Jay's mix perfectly complements Ben Watt's Disc one, and both feature some of the best loved names in quality House music including Kaskade, Ananda Project, Jon Cutler, King Unique and Richard Earnshaw. In addition, Ben's mixes include some exclusive previously unreleased Seamless tracks. This 2 CD set features a total of 23 tracks. 2005.

Rating : - Excellent set. Look for the 3-disc version though.
This is a great set. I really can't stress that enough. Generally speaking, if it's from Bargrooves, you really can't go wrong in the first place. Second, if it's got Jay Hannan with it, even better. Deep, pulsing, smooth, flowing, sexy. It's got it all. Everything you've come to expect. Very Hed Kandi circa the heyday of Mark Doyle, very Naked Music, very Petalpusher aka Miguel Migs. Beautiful, beautiful stuff.

Correction needs to be made here however. I guess the editorial reviewer above had Lazy Dog on the mind, but the "Ben" of Disc One is NOT Ben Watt. It's Ben Sowton of many, many, many Bargrooves series. He is, hands-down, amazing as well. If Ben Watt sees fit to go off and BUZZ about with flies (something I actually love by the way...his series that is), then you can't do any better then getting this Ben to take his place (if you're limiting yourself to Ben's that is).

At any rate, get this and quit thinking about it. I picked up the 3 disc version about the time of the WMC here in South Beach. It's gotten continual play ever since, pleasing all who have heard it. You'll enjoy it immensely as well if you dig the kind of vibe this caters to at all.
